My name is Kelly Harmsen and I've been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1991. Born and raised in Chicago Heights, Illinois now living in Bradenton, Florida and owner of my own hair & art salon. I started at eight years old working in my Dad's hair salon and loving it. While all of the other kids were reading Dr. Seuss I was readng Vidal Sassoon. After graduating from Beauty School I started assisting at a salon that offered additional education to further my career. I became heavily involved in RUSK after attending classes with my boss to watch them cut hair. I consider Irvine Rusk to be my biggest inspiration along with my Dad. I love what I do and if you come to visit me hopefully you will too. I specialize in cutting, corrective coloring, foiling and working with curly hair. I have very naturally curly hair myself and until you live with curly hair you don't understand it. I love helping someone to love their curly hair also.

Block Highlight & Haircut Blowdry

Here is my client Helen that wanted a very chunky foil along with a haircut blowdry.  I used 3 colors for her highlight doing some block foils.  I used a blonde, reddish brown and dark brown.

Color and Haircut

This is my client Eileen.  She has beautiful hair.  I did a base color using Redken Color Gels and pulled through Redken Shades on the rest.  Then I cut her hair in an angled bob leaving it longer on one side in the front.

Base Color and Highlight

Here is my client Nancy that I did a base color using Framesi and a partial foil on. She has tons of wavy hair.  I also layered her hair then did a blowdry and flat iron.

Base Color, Blonde Highlights & Peekaboo Highlights

Here is my client Lisa that came in for a base color and a top foil.  We thought it would be fun to do a few peekaboo highlights in 3RV (Red Violet) underneath so that they would peek out but wouldn't be as noticable as if they were on top.  I did put one sliced section on the top though just for a slight contrast from the other colors.

Kathy's Haircut

Here is my client Kathy that I cut using the Rusk Alpha and Gamma Blades.

Corrective Color

So a client came into me that had been coloring her hair herself for the last six months.  She had just moved here and didn't know who to go to.  Her base color was a level 3-4 with orange brassy color from midshaft to ends.  I did a corrective color with low and highlights and then cut in layers all over to give her hair more movement.

Block Colored Highlights and Angled Bob

My client Helen wanted her haircolor to stand out so I combined some thick weaves, block weaves and fine weaves in between.  The colors are a pale blonde, reddish brown and mocha brown.  Then I put Redken Shades in between the foils to give the rest of the hair more shine and to brighten up the rest of her hair.  Then I cut her hair in an uneven angled bob so it falls lower on one side.

Beachy Blonde Highlights & Long Layers

Here is my client Julie who I created some beautiful beachy blonde highlights for.  I did a combination of fine and thick weaves to give her a very natural look.  Then I trimmed her hair and added some long layers around her face and throughout the back to give it more movement.

Base Color and Highlight

On my client Michelle I did her root touch-up and put some scattered foils in with a toner all over.   Then layered her hair to give her more movement.
